| One of the benefits of being a
member of Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) is that your local
government and non-profit organizations have access to several
types of community/economic development grants through BEC's
wholesale power provider, the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA).
LCRA sets aside a small portion of the revenue it receives
through it's various business functions to fund these grants,
which are only available to those entities located within LCRA's
water and wholesale electric services area.
This was a matching fund grant from LCRA and was enhanced
greatly by combining with other grants for the purchase of much
needed equipment, some of which was donated many years ago as
used equipment. Items purchased: 20 pair of firefighter boots,
20 helmets, 20 carbon-fiber hoods, 20 pair of gloves, 1 rescue
'RIP Pack' for trapped firefighters, and replacement equipment
for worn-out items.
The UVFD greatly appreciates and thanks all organizations
that sent grant monies to purchase these item. |
